Lab Placement Modules

In addition to learning theory in lectures and acquiring further scientific skill in our core resp. skills modules, the students participate in two laboratory rotations before they begin their Master thesis research.

You are here:

Lab Placements (10 ECTS each)

The lab placements provide students with the opportunity to join in the ongoing research of the participating lab. Initially they receive intensive one-on-one training in the labs through which they learn new laboratory techniques as well as the theoretical background and strategy behind the experimental approach. After this short intensive training period students receive their own project and are expected to work increasingly on their own.

Laboratory placements are usually at the Charité. Occasionally students participate in lab placements outside of the Charité as well at one of our collaborating institutions.

"The great thing about this program is that it gives students a chance to experience many different areas of research. I wasn't sure about what to focus on, but through this program I learned about the research of a lot of different professors, gained exposure to several different excellent research institutes, and was able to decide what topic I most wanted to pursue for my PhD."
